Kristen called me around ten day before her wedding to find out if I was available to photograph it. Think that seems like a bit of short notice? Well, this couple decided to plan their event in two weeks! Yup, you aren’t reading that wrong. Kristen’s 30th birthday was coming up and they already had a party planned for their closest family and friends. Then one friend suggested, “why not get married at that party?”. Kristen loved the idea and one of quickest events was ready to be planned. You’d think that there would be no way you’d be able to put together an event in that short of time or you’d think you’d be missing out on some of the key things but they did it and made it their own! From the cute turquoise umbrellas and her matching Hunter rain boots to a cupcake tower and candy necklaces for guests, no detail was missed. The biggest surprise of the evening? The couple surprised their guests when they arrived to her party. No one knew they were there for a wedding, they all thought they were their for her birthday party! The doors opened and standing their in wedding attire was Kristen & Dylan! At Portland City Grill they danced down the aisle, smashed cupcakes into each other, had many fun toasts and danced the night away.
This was truly a fun and unique party and a great way to kick off my 2010 wedding season. Thanks to the talented Craig Mitchelldyer for shooting with me. Congrats to both of you and thanks for having me be a part of the day. Here’s a sampling of their day, enjoy!
Love this shot of Dylan that Craig Mitchelldyer captured.
Another great shot by Craig Mitchelldyer.
