Make Your Session Sentimental

One thing I started out doing as a photographer was asking my couples if they had a location that was meaningful to them. While I was photographing weddings in Oregon this was one of my questions when we were talking about an engagement portrait session. I loved hearing their stories about where they met or a special date they had or the spot where the engagement happened. If we could we would try to go to that location and photograph the couple before they tied the knot.

Now that I am back in my home state of Wisconsin and focusing on photographing portraits that same questions can be asked. Why not make the location one that has fond memories? Maybe you and your family vacation every summer up in Door County and love going to Sunset Park in Fish Creek. Maybe you hike the trails at Cave Point or have a favorite restaurant you eat at. Do you see where I am going with this? Family photos are already creating a memory to last a lifetime why not give that extra special touch and photograph them at a location with a special meaning to you.

That’s why this next session was and is so special. When I discovered that Lily Bay was where this families mom grew up I was really excited to capture not just the portraits of them but also the moments. We had a great session with historic backdrops, home-made wine sampling, stories of days gone by and ending with the soft sand between their toes. I hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Here’s to creating more memories. To reserve your next family or portrait session please email me at alexisarnoldphotography@gmail.com.
