About Alexis

Alexis was gifted a Minolta 35mm film camera while in middle school for Christmas. From that moment on, her drive to create images began. She remembers seeing the world as though she was framing it through the lens of a camera. Growing up in Door County, WI, she was drawn to capturing old items left behind, antiques, and abandoned buildings that had stories to tell.

Experience:

Fast forward to college, where she studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She enrolled initially for graphic design but then switched to Fine Arts. During her time in the fine arts department, she sought to continue her photography. Alexis ended up living in the photo lab on campus. She took all the classes offered and then worked in the photo lab, which gave her access to process her own film and then print it. She graduated in 1999.

After college, she moved to the Twin Cities. Worked in a commercial photography lab, processing film and then moving up to the print department. It was during this time that she realized she was ready to learn and become a professional photographer. Alexis relocated to Portland, OR, and worked with a photographer for a few years, and then started her own business in 2001.

She photographed beautiful weddings for ten years, traveling to unique and stunning locations. During this time, she worked with local business owners, fashion designers, restaurants, and more.

Her work has been published in Portland Bride & Groom Magazine, Oregon Bride, Crave Book, Door County Living Magazine, public art displays and has won multiple awards over the years.

Currently serving the Black Hills area, focusing on Rapid City, SD and its surrounding communities.
